Membership -
Ambassador's Forum - monthly cocktails with the US Ambassador to the Philippines; a forum where the Ambassador is apprised of the concerns and problems faced by the business community while he shares his won personal perception of the current political and economic situation in the Philippines with businessmen, Embassy representatives and selected AmCham members. Breakfast Briefing - for your visiting company executives, we would be pleased to arrange, at a nominal cost, a special breakfast briefing with our Board of Directors and selected committee chairmen. Discussions center on Philippines economy and business forecasts. Kapihan sa AmCham - an open dialogue "over a cup of coffee" where guest speakers are invited to clarify/elaborate certain issues of interest to the business sector. Held every Friday, 7:30 a.m., at Elk's Club, Corinthian Plaza in Makati. Monthly General Membership Meetings - an excellent opportunity to meet other business leaders from a broad cross-section of industries and nationalities and where vital information is shared by prominent guest speakers selected from the public, private and government sectors. Networking - for the common interest of the business community, AmCham has successfully established a network with the different foreign chambers, the Employers Confederation of the Philipppines (ECOP), Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PCCI), Philippine Association of Multinational Regional Headquarters (PAMURI), Makati Business Club (MBC), Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), and other trade and business organizations. Research - AmCham has library facilities that offer assistance in trade and other business-related information needs of members and the general public. Open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Meeting Facility - a conference room which can accommodate 60-80 people is available for members' use at a reasonable cost. This can be availed of by members, subject to prior arrangements. AmCham has five different categories for firms and individuals: U.S., Non-U.S., Government and Non-Profit, Non-Resident, and Provincial. U.S. Firm (USF) membership shall be available only to corporations, partnerships, proprietorships, and other business organizations and enterprises (herein referred to as "firm" or "firms"), which are registered and qualified to do business in the Philippines, with 30% or more of the ownership held by American citizens and/or corporations. Voting In a partnership, the American partner or partners must have a share of interest of 30% or more. In the case of non-stock corporations and un-incorporated associations, at least 30% of the voting members must be Americans. In this classification, member firms shall be represented by an indiviidual duly accredited to the Chamber by the firm. Such individual representative must rank among the senior executives of the firm, but may not necessarily be an American citizen. U.S. Individual (USI) membership shall be available only to (1) individuals (voting) - persons residing in the Philippines who are American citizens and who are not eligible for membership under any other membership classifications; (2) Additional Individuals (non-voting) - persons residing in the Philippines who are American citizens and are employed by a firm currently holding U.S. Firm membership. Non-U.S. Firm (NUSF) membership shall be available only to firms and qualified to do business in the Philippines with 71% or more of the ownership are held by citizens or corporations of countries other than the United States. A duly accredited representative must rank among the senior executives of the firm and may be of any nationality or citizenship. Non-Voting Non-U.S. Individual (NUSI) membership shall be available only to individuals residing in the Philippines who are citizens of countries other than the United States and who are not eligible for membership under any other membership classifications. Non-Voting Government and Non-Profit (GNP) membership shall be available only to (1) Non-profit, charitable, civic, educational, religious and eleemosynary organizations, associations and institutions in the Philippines. Such membership shall be represented by persons duly accredited by the organizations described above; (2) Individuals residing in the Philippines who are spouses of duly accredited representatives of regular member firms and spouses of duly accredited representatives of organizations described in (1) above; (3) employees of the U.S. Federal government. Non-Voting Non-Resident membership shall be available only to firms and individuals doing business outside the Philippines. Non-Voting Honorary - This classification of membership shall be available only to individuals who are American citizens who have gained distinction in government, business, trade, commerce, civic rights, arts or sciences granted only upon the recommendation and approval of the Board of Directors of the Chamber.
